Our Story

Prime Math started as an idea in October of 2023. At this point, I had been teaching Math at local libraries for over 2 years — focusing on outside-the-box thinking and problem-solving skills. With the success of Math Club, I wanted to expand the scope of Math Club so more and more students could learn such STEM skills.

We focus on developing creativity and outside-of-the-box problem-solving skills, through the use of games (e.g., Nim), puzzles (e.g., how to arrange five applies in two rows of three), illusions (e.g, Escher), and live demonstrations (e.g., students experience exponential growth by folding a piece of paper onto itself multiple times). We build customized curricula, inspired by sources that are usually not covered at all in K-12 education due to their multifaceted nature and complexity. Our lessons build confidence in students’ reliance on their own ability to think creatively and come up with innovative solutions – to be empowered to be leaders!

Our Philosophy:

Here at the Prime Math Foundation, our mission is rooted in fostering abstract thinking and logical problem-solving skills among elementary school-aged children. We aim at creating a more equitable and inclusive society and recognize the pivotal role these skills play in STEM and lifelong learning in this information age.

  • Foundational Importance of Skills: Acknowledges that abstract thinking and logical problem-solving skills are foundational for success in STEM fields and crucial for navigating the continuous learning landscape of the information age.

  • Customized Learning Approach: Advocates for an individualized approach that tailors the curriculum to the unique background of each student. Recognizes that personalization enhances the effectiveness of skill development.

  • Passion for Learning: Aims not only to impart skills but also to cultivate a love for abstract thinking and logical problem-solving. Understands that a genuine passion for these concepts contributes to sustained interest and lifelong learning.

  • Commitment to Lifelong Impact: Recognizes that instilling these skills goes beyond immediate academic gains, with a long-term vision of empowering individuals to navigate challenges and contribute meaningfully to society throughout their lives.
